Akiin Beach Club is a 10/10 across the board! Truly we can't say enough good things about the venue, the management, staff, and overall experience. The Akiin team helped us put together the wedding of our dreams. Beyond our dreams, really.
Akiin is one of the only private venues in Tulum, that means they are BUSY but you would never know they are doing multiple events a week plus running a daily beach club by how they prioritize and treat you.
We came across Akiin beach by chance during our vacation in October 2018 just a few weeks after we got engaged. We were not thinking about wedding plans quite yet and certainly never thought we would do a destination wedding as most of the resort-weddings we've attended felt cheesy and standardized. But this venue is like none other! It's a blank canvas that can be customized to any couples desire. Nothing about Akiin is cheesy or standard. We went back home to Washington DC and looked at 10+ venues but none gave us the vibe that we felt in Tulum. A few short months laters, we booked our date.
We worked closely with an in-house planner as well as the event's manager, Sandra Cervantes. Both of whom made our planning process easy and seamless.
From the day we booked we had the best planning experience with our in-house planner. We provided her with our inspiration via pinterest board, a customized survey, and several Facetime/Skye sessions. I thought planning from afar would be a problem but it truly wasn't. All of our vendors had great catelogs and photos and our planner put together a mood board so we could see how pieces would come together.
Five months before the wedding, we went back down to Tulum for tastings and to meet vendors. I've been in many weddings and attended many tastings. This one was the best yet! The food is divine and they treat their couples like royalty whenever they come to visit. This visit helped us to tie everything together in that visit -- timeline, menu, vendors, rentals, layout, etc.
When we arrived in Tulum in March for the wedding, we felt at ease knowing that the Akiin team had everything under control. They are a well oiled machine. And honestly trust is so important to give a couple peace of mind on their wedding day. We know that Sandra, and our planner Sofia, had everything under control -- I didn't think twice about any details once we landed in Tulum.
